This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Petit Le Mans. APM was contracted by Road Atlanta for specialty racetrack painting services for this big event. The Petit Le Mans race is a 10hrs. endurance race covering approx. 1000 miles (390+ laps) on the 2.54 mile Road Atlanta course. Our racetrack painting crew was rapidly dispatched from Michigan taking advantage of clear Atlanta weather along with a 2 day closed track “maintenance” work window.
Marking this years anniversary race Road Atlanta received a revised color scheme on all race curbs. Past color was alternating (Dark Green) & (White) combination. The new color (Road Atlanta Green & Road Atlanta Yellow) both colors are from a custom creation, following the brands logo colors.
Our crew members were able to service the entire 2.54 mile track in 2 days!
The project scope for this racetrack painting project covered: 33,000+ lineal feet of 6″ (white & yellow) lines, 18,000+ square feet of multi-colored curbs. Our crew members pulled two long shifts on Monday and Tuesday to ensure track would be ready for Wednesday morning’s kick off to racing events. Not a easy task considering this job required multiple colors along with ensuring proper cure times were met. This marks our third time painting the historic track, typically we service track just ahead of the MotoAmerica superbike series. Our crew members did enjoy seeing all the behind the scenes action of race teams arriving and unloading.
